Pay after successfully completing and graduating from the recruit training program: $33.45

Bargaining Unit: Fraternal Order of Police

- Responding to calls involving fire, accidents, and criminal cases.
- Administering first aid, investigating, gathering evidence, locating witnesses, making arrests, and transporting prisoners.
- Interviewing complainants and directing them appropriately.
- Processing evidence, testifying, record-keeping, and reporting.
- Using physical force and firearms safely and effectively.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Complete required training successfully within the allotted time.
- Discharge firearms accurately with both hands.
- Subdue uncooperative individuals using physical force if necessary.
- Run up to 1.5 miles without exhaustion.
- Remain credible and able to testify in court.
- Distinguish colors accurately.
- Meet medical standards for vision and hearing.
- Carry an average adult (about 160 lbs) over 15-20 feet.
- React calmly in emergencies.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Wear body armor on duty.
- Maintain effective relationships with colleagues and the public.
- Operate a vehicle with a valid Kansas driver's license.
- Pose no health or safety threat in the workplace.
- Must be 21 or older.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
- U.S. citizen.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Valid Kansas driver’s license required.
