Job description

Job Title: Police Records Clerk (Part-Time)

The City of Ankeny is accepting applications for a part-time Police Records Clerk position with the Ankeny Police Department. This role involves performing routine clerical tasks under supervision to support the Police Department Support Services division, ensuring accurate record-keeping for various programs.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary range is $25.50 - $29.52 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits include prorated vacation, sick leave, personal time, holidays, the EAP program, and IPERS retirement system. Pre-employment requirements include drug screening, psychological evaluation, and background check.

Work Schedule and Application Deadline

Work Schedule: 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday - Thursday (20 hours/week)

Hiring Process

Responsibilities
  1. Prepare, scan, and store division records for permanent files.
  2. Perform clerical duties such as data entry, filing, preparing reports, maintaining supplies, and answering phones.
  3. Assist the intelligence unit with data entry and hot list confirmation.
  4. Support the detective unit with subpoena preparation, video analysis, and case organization.
  5. Assist in divisional training planning and logistics.
  6. Maintain on-call schedules and police applicant scheduling.
  7. Attend meetings and take notes as required.
  8. Prepare and tabulate activity reports.
  9. Assist the public with inquiries and support activities.
  10. Maintain staff support records and track daily activities.
  11. Interact professionally with customers and provide assistance.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to follow written and oral instructions, knowledge of office procedures and Microsoft Office, accurate record-keeping skills, and effective interpersonal skills. Ability to obtain Iowa/NCIC certification within six months and maintain confidentiality.
