Job summary

Windcrest City Of (TX) seeks a dedicated peace officer to patrol designated zones, deter crime, and enforce traffic laws. You will respond to calls relayed by Communications Officers and participate in preliminary investigations, collecting information and evidence.

The role requires completing TCOLE-certified training, holding a TX peace officer license, and passing background and fitness assessments. You will work as part of a team to protect the community and ensure public safety.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be at least 21 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED with TCOLE Peace Officer basics and license required.
• Valid Texas driver’s license or able to obtain one; eligible to drive city vehicle.
• Must pass written, physical, and oral interviews.
• Must pass a thorough background check.
• Must be able to provide credible testimony in court.

Responsibilities

• Patrols an assigned zone to detect and deter criminal activity and traffic violations.
• Enforces traffic and parking laws.
• Receives information on activity and assists in plans to address problems.
• Response to calls relayed by Communications Officers, including but not limited to domestic disputes, assaults, burglaries, traffic accidents, lost or missing persons searches, public service duties and others.
• Gathers information/probable cause to secure either arrest or search warrants as needed.
• Conducts preliminary investigation into traffic accidents and other incidents, including but not limited to interviewing victims, complainants and witnesses, gathering information and evidence, and securing crime scenes.
• Apprehends arrest, and process offenders, including fugitives; subpoenas witnesses and serves warrants.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
