Job summary

The Goodyear Police Department is seeking an Employee Wellness Officer to support department employees and their families in times of crisis, hardship, and need. The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while serving a team-oriented environment.

The position serves as the program coordinator for the CISM/Peer Support Team; preferred candidates have completed CISM/Peer Support and AZPOST General Instructor Certification.

Qualifications

• Active AZPOST certification in good standing.
• Five or more years of solo police officer status.
• Completed CISM/Peer Support certification course and AZPOST General Instructor Certification course.
• Ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations.
• Capable of quick thinking and sound decisions under pressure.
• Commitment to community policing and building relationships.

Responsibilities

• Performs patrol duties by traveling through designated areas, searching for suspicious activity, interviewing suspects, and making arrests.
• Responds to routine and emergency calls and assesses action to be taken.
• Educates the community by teaching classes, conducting block watch meetings, and giving public presentations.
• Prepares and reviews departmental policy, trains officers, and participates in process-improvement teams.
