Job summary

The City of Kodiak is recruiting a full-time Police Officer. Under general supervision, this position enforces laws, prevents crimes, controls traffic, issues citations, and conducts investigations; makes arrests and supports crime prevention programs.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must maintain APSIN security clearance.
  • Must possess a valid Alaska driver’s license or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Must meet Alaska Administrative Code requirements to be a Police Officer and gain police certification.
  • Must be able to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce laws and prevent crimes under general supervision.
  • Control traffic flow, issue citations, and conduct investigations.
  • Make arrests and support special crime prevention programs; perform admin tasks.
  • Potential to serve as instructor, field training officer, or school resource officer.
