Police officers are responsible for patrolling town streets and neighborhoods to deter crime, apprehend and/or arrest violators or suspects, respond to calls for law enforcement assistance, gather information for criminal investigations, and meet with and work with community members. Fluency in a foreign language is desired (Spanish preferred). A valid North Carolina Driver's License is required.
The hiring process varies depending on candidates' backgrounds. For candidates who are enrolled in or have completed BLET, the hiring process includes:
Hiring range for officers who have completed BLET: $54,912 - $94,573.
