Qualifications

• Knowledge of modern police methods and procedures, including patrol, crime prevention, traffic control, investigation and identification techniques, radio broadcasting, and police reports.
• Criminal law, including arrest, custody of persons, and related procedures.
• Ability to observe accurately, remember details, and communicate with diverse communities.
• Ability to think and act quickly in emergencies and judge situations accurately.
• Ability to prepare clear, concise written reports.
• Ability to handle conflicting priorities and interpret laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Attend a POST certified academy designed to provide an overview of the criminal justice system.
• Undergo training to learn duties and responsibilities of police officers in field operations.
• Participate in classroom and outdoor instruction, tests, and practical exercises.
• Learn proper handling of firearms with range qualification.
• Assist in calls for service and provide information to the public.
