Job summary

The Fairfield Police Department is seeking Police Officer Trainees to attend a POST certified academy. After successful completion, trainees may be promoted to Police Officer (Academy Graduate) and complete an in-house field training program. This recruitment will establish an eligibility list for vacancies over the next 12 months.

Work may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Training may include physical training; emergency vehicle operations; firearm training.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 60-semester units required at appointment.
• Credit for 36-semester credits for 4 years of active duty may be considered.
• College credits earned during the academy may count toward the 60-semester unit requirement.

Responsibilities

• Attend a basic POST certified academy designed to provide an overview of the criminal justice system including laws and training in police procedures.
• Perform sworn peace officer duties involving protection of life and property, crime prevention, and community assistance.

Education
