• Must be 20 1/2 years old at time of application submittal
• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid California driver’s license with good driving record
• Must pass POST-certified academy, polygraph, medical, psychological exams and background check
• Screening at any point based on position requirements and potential waivers may apply

Responsibilities

• Attend a POST-certified academy to learn basic criminal justice, laws, procedures and physical fitness
• Undergo training to understand police functions and field operations
• Academy and field training include firearms handling, radio codes, court system overview
• Duties include public information, writing police reports and observing law enforcement activities
