Job summary

The City of Concord Police Department is seeking a Police Officer Trainee to begin a path toward becoming a certified police officer. Trainees will be assigned to attend a POST-approved Police Academy, with acceptance into the Academy and passing the POST-written examination being conditions for advancement.

The ideal candidate will have substantial college coursework (60+ semester units) and may substitute military experience for some units.

Qualifications

• A T-Score of 50 or higher on the California POST Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (POST Pellet B) is required.
• Candidates with at least three years of recent military experience may substitute 15 semester units.
• The ideal candidate has the equivalent of 60 college semester units or more; 30 semester units are required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Attend an upcoming POST-approved Police Academy; acceptance by the Academy is a condition for employment.
• Meet the academic and testing requirements as part of the trainee program.

Education

The ideal candidate will have the equivalent of 60 college semester units or more. Only applicants with at least 30 semester units will be considered. The classification of Police Officer requires 60 college semester units, or the equivalent. If selected, those employees must obtain the additional required semester units within the first four (4) years of employment. Candidates with at least three (3) years of recent military experience may substitute their experience for 15 semester units.

T-Score Qualification

A T-Score of 50 or higher on the California POST Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (POST Pellet B) is required.
