Job Purpose

To protect and serve residents, visitors, and employees on the Sycuan Indian Reservation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Protection and Security: Patrol the reservation, respond to service calls and alarms (fire, burglary, panic), traffic collisions, and criminal activity in progress; enforce federal and state criminal codes and tribal ordinances; assist injured and sick individuals; assist motorists; secure buildings and property; escort money and persons as needed; and cooperate with other agencies. 60%
  • Investigations: Respond to calls of criminal activity and accidents; document facts and observations; interview victims, suspects, and witnesses; generate investigative reports; maintain crime scenes; and manage traffic when appropriate. 30%
  • Community Engagement: Proactively police the reservation, build rapport with residents, visitors, and employees; develop crime prevention strategies; initiate crime prevention activities; and participate in public education efforts. 10%
Job Specifications
Education and Experience
  • U.S. Citizen or eligible for citizenship as a permanent resident alien
  • Minimum age of 21 at application
  • Valid California driver’s license in good standing
  • No felony convictions
  • No misdemeanor convictions that restrict firearm possession
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Experience with an accredited California law enforcement agency
  • College coursework in criminal justice
