DEFINITION
Under general supervision from the Police Sergeant, to perform a variety of duties in law enforcement and crime prevention programs; to maintain order and a safe environment for the citizens of Wheatland; to participate in criminal investigations and crime prevention programs, and to provide a variety of duties relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the above requirements is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by college level course work in police science, criminal justice or a related field.
Experience: Prior law enforcement experience is preferred.
License, Certificate, Registration Requirements:
Possession of a valid California driver license appropriate for equipment operated. Possession of a POST Academy Graduation Certificate (Entry Level)
Possession of a Basic P.O.S.T. Certificate issued by the State of California (Lateral Applicants).
Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in an emergency peace officer environment. Physical requirements consistent with P.O.S.T. standards.
