Job summary

The Town of Ross is seeking a Police Recruit/Officer Trainee to join the Police Department. The selected candidate will attend a POST-certified Academy funded by the Town, preparing to assume the full duties of a Police Officer while serving the community.

Under supervision, recruits will work toward becoming certified Peace Officers, engaging in community policing, and fulfilling essential safety responsibilities within Ross 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• No college or prior experience required.
• Applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• At least age 21.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Candidates will be required to submit standard police background checks and POS T physical/psychological evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete the required coursework and graduate from a certified POST Police Academy.
• Acquire knowledge and skills to perform as a Police Officer.
• Acquire physical conditioning to meet Department requirements.
• May perform police work while awaiting entry into the Academy.
• Perform related duties as required.
