Job summary

The City of Seaside is seeking individuals to enroll in the POST basic police academy to gain the knowledge, skills, and physical abilities required to serve the public as police officers. This is a non-sworn training level position.

Trainees are subject to academy rules, may perform non-safety duties, and promotion to sworn officer requires successful academy completion and final review by the Police Chief.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to high school graduation.
• Valid California driver's license with safe driving record.
• Age 21 at time of appointment.
• Pass PELLETB reading/writing test within last 12 months and pass WSTB (minimums) within last 12 months.
• Physically healthy and able to meet POST agility test and medical exam requirements.
• Must meet POST vision guidelines (color, binocular, peripheral).
• Must be psychologically suitable for police work as required by POST.

Responsibilities
