This role involves patrolling assigned areas, enforcing traffic laws, and providing assistance to the community. Officers will conduct investigations, respond to emergencies, and maintain safety in the city. The position requires a high school diploma and the ability to complete rigorous training programs. SUMMARY
Patrols assigned area, in a police vehicle. Enforces traffic regulations, responds to requests for service, performs preliminary investigations to prevent/deter crime and arrest violators. Duties and responsibilities include the following.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma / GED. Must successfully complete the Department’s in-service and Field Training Program.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to gather/collect information from individuals in a manner to accurately conduct and document investigations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and be licensable by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
SPECIALIZED KSA'S
Upon completion of academy and/or the Department’s field training program, must have working knowledge of police patrol methods, practice and procedures, municipal ordinances and geography of the City.

Must be able to legally and properly utilize non-lethal or lethal force and related equipment/weapons where applicable, and effect forcible arrests when necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Vision standards 20/40 (uncorrected) for near and far vision each eye or 20/20 corrected each eye.
