Job summary

Anchorage Police Department is recruiting for Police Officer Recruits. This position begins with entry into the Police Academy on 07/06/2027 and leads to a sworn Police Officer after successful completion. Officers perform a wide range of duties including enforcing laws, responding to calls, and conducting investigations.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 21, and able to obtain Alaska driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Must be a citizen or US National by date of hire.
• Must be at least 21 years old by date of hire.
• Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver's license at date of hire.
• Must meet Alaska Police Standards Council standards regarding convictions and substances at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order and enforce codes and ordinances.
• Identify and apprehend violators within MOA.
• Conduct preliminary investigations and collect/preserve evidence.
• Coordinate with other agencies and testify in court as required.
