The City of Mesa is offering a hiring bonus for Police Officer Recruits: $1,750 after 30 days of hire or promotion, and $1,750 upon completing the Field Training Program. Recruits with a Bachelor's Degree will receive an additional $500, and those with a Master's Degree will receive $1,000 upon completing the field training officer program.

Police Officer Recruits attend the Mesa Police Department Academy to learn law enforcement duties, including community interaction, law enforcement procedures, investigations, arrests, and public service. Upon successful completion, they undergo further training in the Field Officer Training Program. This role involves patrol activities, possibly under personal danger, requiring independent judgment and physical exertion. Work hours include rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. After training, promotion to Police Officer occurs.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, being at least 21 years old by graduation from the academy, possessing a valid Class D Arizona Driver's License, and being a U.S. citizen.
