Qualifications
  • Minimum High School Education or GED.
  • Some college preferred, ideally in Criminal Justice or related fields.
  • Hospital Security/Police experience preferred.
  • Graduation from an approved Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy and eligibility for Ohio police officer certification.
  • Certification from OPOTA or OSP with the required training hours and no break in service exceeding one year.
  • Previous police officer experience is preferred.
Responsibilities

The police officer will perform general duty work to protect life and property, enforce laws, and uphold UC Health policies across all properties. Duties vary from physical inactivity to situations requiring significant exertion and potential danger.

  • Patrol facilities on foot, bike, or vehicle to prevent and deter crime, enforce laws and parking regulations, and ensure safety. Respond to alarms, accidents, disturbances, and other incidents, cooperating with colleagues and maintaining professionalism and courtesy towards all.
  • Write detailed reports, document violations, interview individuals, secure crime scenes, administer first aid, conduct investigations, gather evidence, make arrests, and provide information to inquiries. Reports should be clear, complete, and professional.
  • Inspect for security, health, and safety hazards, conduct initial investigations if needed, and submit work requests.
  • Enforce UC Health policies, procedures, and laws, making arrests when necessary and testifying in court.
  • Perform safety checks, including monthly fire extinguisher and alarm system inspections.
  • Stay informed on current law enforcement trends through reading, training, and attending conferences.
  • Monitor areas for illegal activity, utilize computer systems for data retrieval, and strive to improve operations and teamwork in line with RITE Cord values.
