Job summary

Job description

Major Responsibilities

  • Enforcement of applicable federal, state, or local laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Periodically performs foot and vehicle patrols.
  • Stands for extended periods of time.
  • Prevention, investigation and detection of crime
  • Maintain traffic flow on airport roadways and issue citations when appropriate
  • Maintain law and order
  • Enforce TSA approved Airport security program
  • Maintain proper log books, reports, and forms.
  • Monitor and report potential security violations/hazards
  • Make arrests and appear in court to present evidence and testify as needed
  • Maintain compliance with Wildlife Hazard Management program
  • Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICIATIONS

  • PA Law Enforcement Academy (Act 120) Diploma
  • MPOETC Certification or current valid examination score.
  • Valid PA Drivers license
  • Knowledge of PA Crimes Code, Vehicle Code, and court procedures
  • Skill in the proper use and care of firearms as well as competency in using lethal/less than lethal weapons
  • Ability to communicate clearly; understand complex oral and written instructions
  • Possess good observation skills
  • Ability to analyze situations, take corrective action and make logical decisions under pressure
  • Ability to effectively deal with co-workers and the public
  • Must pass TSA criminal history records check and LNAA security clearance background investigation
  • Satisfactorily pass psychological evaluation
  • Must be able to work permanent or rotating shifts
  • Must be able to respond to emergency requests for assistance
  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Must be able to lift and handle up to 75lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk, run, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Must be able to speak, comprehend, read & write English
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle equipment, tools, objects or controls
  • Must have normal ability to understand speech in noisy areas, understand whispered speech, and be able to localize sounds. Must not exceed average hearing loss of 25 decibels.
  • Must have adequate close, distant, peripheral, color vision & depth perception
