Job summary

This position enforces federal, state, and local laws and protects life and property in Mandan, ND. As a sworn police officer, you will respond to calls, patrol streets, investigate incidents, and cooperate with other agencies to ensure public safety.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • North Dakota POST certification or equivalent.
  • Valid driver''s license.
  • Ability to obtain POST certification if not currently certified.

Responsibilities

  • Patrols the city to deter crime and traffic violations.
  • Responds to calls for service and emergencies.
  • Conducts preliminary investigations and gathers evidence.
  • Arrests offenders and processes them according to law.
  • Provides backup to officers and emergency responders.
  • Directs traffic for events and school crossings.
  • Testifies in judicial proceedings when required.
  • Completes required reports and forms.
  • Maintains patrol car, uniform, and equipment.
  • Serves on teams and special units as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or GED
North Dakota POST Certification
Certification/License from Reciprocal State
