Qualifications

• Must meet Alabama POST standards and maintain annual continuing education.
• Driver’s license in good standing and within 30 days of employment; primary Pelham residence within 35 miles for take-home vehicle eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Patrol designated areas to protect life and property and enforce laws.
• Respond to calls involving incidents, accidents, felonies, and misdemeanors.
• Preserve life and collect evidence; prepare detailed reports and testify in court as needed.
• Communicate with the public and provide information on laws and ordinances.
• Possibility of assignments in specialized units; work may be 24/7 and require independent judgment.
