Job summary

The Montgomery Police Department is seeking Police Officer Trainees to provide protection for Montgomery citizens. Trainees are provisional until graduating from the Police Academy and completing a 12-month probation before becoming permanent officers.

Officers serve as entry-level sworn personnel across MPD divisions, performing patrol, traffic, investigation and communications duties, and may respond to emergencies and present information in court.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved high school or a GED certificate is required.
• APOST certification or eligibility is required for appointment.
• Must meet physician-approved health and physical fitness standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide protection through daily patrol, traffic, investigation and communication.
• Respond to emergency incidents and participate in narcotics undercover operations as needed.
• Document events and procedures in writing and present information in court when required.
• Work under supervision and report through the chain of command.
