Job summary

The Richland Police Department is seeking experienced officers through a lateral hiring program. Under the direction of a Police Sergeant, you will perform police protection duties, respond to incidents, and uphold the rights of Richland residents.

The role includes 12-hour shifts with callback and overtime as required, and rotation through specialized assignments. Candidates must have a high school diploma, POST certification, and two years of continuous commissioned experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Submit online application with resume, POST certification, and updated PHS in PDF format.
• Two years continuous full-time commissioned civilian law enforcement experience.
• Washington state candidates must have graduated from the WA Basic Law Enforcement Academy Training or WA-approved academy.
• Out-of-state candidates must complete BLEA and obtain WA police officer certification within probationary period.
• Valid WA driver's license on hire; out-of-state applicants must obtain within two months.
• All candidates must have current police officer certification or equivalent.
• 21 years of age at time of application.
• U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or DACA recipient.
• Complete field training prior to end of probation.

Responsibilities

• Respond to crime scenes, emergencies and requests for assistance.
• Detect, apprehend and arrest criminals; enforce laws and ordinances.
• Perform specialized duties as assigned and rotate through assignments.
• Work 12-hour shifts with callback and overtime as required.
