Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System in Ohio is seeking a Part-time Police Officer to protect life and property on Genesis premises. You will patrol facilities, enforce Ohio laws, and support patient, visitor and staff safety.

The role requires OPOTA certification, firearms qualification, a valid Ohio license, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You will collaborate with other departments to maintain a secure and compassionate environment for all.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • OPOTA certification and commission eligibility in Ohio.
  • Current firearms qualification.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license.
  • Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, facilitation and investigative skills.
  • Strong listening, verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service and maintain confidentiality.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team under pressure.
  • Basic computer skills with Word/Excel/PowerPoint proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol facilities to help prevent fire, theft and vandalism.
  • Make arrests in collaboration with the agency having jurisdiction.
  • Help ensure safety of employees, patients and visitors.
  • Appear in court when necessary.
  • Document security incidents and assist with restraints of combative patients.
  • Handle patient valuables storage and return.
  • Conduct monthly fire extinguisher checks.
  • Conduct quarterly drills per schedule.
  • Work with inpatient psychiatric unit following CMS/OSHA and other regulations.

Must be knowledgeable of Genesis policy/procedures. Works in tandem with other departments/employees to work out problems and find solutions to patient, visitor and staff needs.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES** 1. Patrols facilities and grounds to help prevent fire, theft and vandalism. 2. Makes arrest in collaboration with the agency having jurisdiction where facility is located and the enforcement of the Ohio Revised Code. 3. Helps ensure safety of all employees, patients and visitors throughout the Genesis facilities. 4. Appears in court when necessary. 5. Documents all security incidents and assists with the restraints of combative patients. 6. Handles patient valuable storage and return. 7. Conducts monthly fire extinguisher checks. 8. Conducts quarterly dire drills per schedule. 9. Work with inpatient psychiatric unit for safety of patients, visitors and staff while following CMS, OSHA and other regulations.**QUALIFICATIONS** 1. High school graduate or equivalent. 2. Must have a certificate from the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) and be eligible for commission in the State of Ohio. a. NOTE: Individuals who have not been appointed as either a peace officer or trooper for more than one year but less than four years, shall be required to successfully complete a refresher course prescribed for the executive director within one year of reappointment. be a commissioned Police Officer in the State of Ohio with 3. Current firearms qualification is required. 4. Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license. 5. Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, facilitation, conflict resolution and investigative skills. 6. Demonstrated excellence with listening, verbal and written communication skills in order to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals and situations. 7. Ability to provide outstanding customer service and maintain a high degree of confidentiality. 8. Must have problem solving skills the ability to work independently or as part of a team and under pressure in complex and changing working environment. 9. Required stooping, kneeling, twisting, bending and reaching overhead while performing area searches. 5.
