The Gilroy Police Department is recruiting a Police Officer – Lateral to join a dedicated team serving a diverse community just south of San Jose. This role offers a robust compensation package and opportunities to rotate into specialty assignments including Traffic, Investigations, SWAT/HNT, and K-9 units.

Qualified lateral candidates bring prior police experience, P.O.S.T. certification, and a commitment to modern policing practices.

Formación

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a physical agility test.
• Meet P.O.S.T. medical standards for a peace officer.
• Pass P.O.S.T. background investigation including polygraph, DOJ and FBI checks.
• Possess valid California driver license.

Responsabilidades

• Perform mobile patrol or fixed post in an assigned area for the prevention of crime and the enforcement of traffic laws and regulations.
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, offenses and damage to property.
• Make arrests and take law enforcement action as appropriate.
• Respond to pages, radio, and telephone dispatches.
• Note and report traffic hazards, assist in controlling traffic at scenes of emergencies.
