Job description

The City of Yuba City is currently recruiting for (Lateral) - Police Officers!

Are you an experienced officer? The City of Yuba City is currently offering a $45,000 Lateral Incentive!
  • Available to Lateral Officers who successfully complete the hiring process with the City of Yuba City. The incentive would be paid in four (4) payments: The first payment of $12,500 will be made upon the successful hiring of the candidate. The second payment of $10,000 would be made upon successful completion of the field training program. The third payment of $12,500 would be made upon the successful completion of 18 months of full-time employment with the City. The fourth and final payment of $10,000 would be made upon the successful completion of 36 months of employment with the City.
Under general supervision, performs law enforcement and crime prevention work; controls traffic flow and enforces State and local traffic regulations and does other related work.

Police Officers conduct preliminary crime scene investigations, prepare reports and work with citizens and youth in a variety of crime prevention and safety programs. The ideal candidate will have a sense of service, dedication, commitment to excellence and a mature approach to such a critical career field. The Yuba City Police Department is progressive, community-oriented and a nationally recognized department. Ethics, leadership and a strong commitment to integrity are a must in this position.

Education: Equivalent to the completion of one year of recognized college coursework, preferably in Administration of Justice, Criminal Justice, or closely related field.
Experience: One year of recent, full-time police officer experience in a recognized local law enforcement agency or one year of Level I reserve experience in the Yuba City Police Department. (Recent is defined as all or part of the experience has been within the last three years).
Licenses and/or Certifications Required:
Possession of or the ability to obtain an appropriate, valid State of California driver's license and possession of a valid State of California POST Academy completion/Basic Certificate or equivalent which has been accepted by the State of California.
