Job summary

National Police in Skokie, IL seeks a lateral police officer entry with 2+ years sworn service for immediate consideration. A base salary range and hiring incentive are offered, with additional pay for certified status and special detail opportunities.

Eligibility includes US work authorization, FOID and valid driver's license. The process includes written applications, physical ability testing, interviews, polygraph, background and medical evaluations, and final selection from the candidate

Qualifications

• Must be a full-time Sworn Police Officer in good standing that is certified or have the ability to be certified by Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and served as a Sworn Police Officer for a period of 2 years or more without a break in service of six months or more.
• U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• High School Diploma or equivalent and at least one of the following: minimum sixty college semester hours or two years of active military service with an Honorable Discharge.
• Must possess or be eligible to possess before hire a valid FOID card
• Possess a valid Driver’s License
• Proof of POWER test attainment within 12 months or complete a physical agility test by Skokie Police Department
• Correctable vision to 20/20 and color distinction
• No Residency Requirement
• Authorization for Release of Personal Information and Abstinence from Tobacco agreements
• Visible tattoos are now permitted with restrictions

Job description

SALARY & BENEFITS

• $99,946-$126,464 (Lateral Entry)
• $15,000 Hiring Incentive offered to eligible Lateral Officers – Terms and conditions apply.
• Certified Officers may be hired up to $116,921, based on certification and years of prior law enforcement experience.
• 8 Hour Shifts
• 9 Days Off Monthly w/ Day Off Schedule Picks
• Special Detail Opportunities pay rate to $91.20

LATERAL POLICE OFFICER ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a full-time Sworn Police Officer in good standing that is certified or have the ability to be certified by Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and served as a Sworn Police Officer for a period of 2 years or more without a break in service of six months or more.
• U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• High School Diploma or equivalent and at least one of the following:
  • Minimum sixty (60) college semester hours from an accredited institution by the application date, or
  • Two (2) years of active military service with an Honorable Discharge by the application date;
• Must possess or be eligible to possess before hire, a valid FOID card
• Possess a valid Driver’s License
• Proof of completion of the Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) test with an attainment date less than twelve months prior to the date of application or complete a physical agility test administered by the Skokie Police Department
• Correctable vision to 20 / 20 and the ability to distinguish colors
• No Residency Requirement
• Enter into an “Authorization for Release of Personal Information Agreement”, and an “Abstinence from Tobacco Products Agreement”
