Job summary

The South Elgin Police Department is accepting applications for lateral entry police officers. The position requires current service on a police department for at least two years, IL LEB certification, and good standing as a municipal officer, deputy, or state trooper.

A high school diploma, valid IL driver’s license, and English fluency are required. Salary ranges from $79,038 to $115,642 with a full benefits package, based on experience, and a 42-hour work week.

Qualifications

• Two years or more serving on a police department.
• Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board certification.
• Be a municipal police officer, county sheriff’s deputy, or Illinois State Trooper in good standing.
• U.S. citizen and/or eligible for permanent residence.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Illinois driver’s license.
• Vision standard: at least 20/70 binocular vision without glasses, color blind prohibited.
• No felony record.
• Able to read/write/speak English fluently.
