Position Details

GRADE: SLE 0003

LOCATION: MDH Spring Grove Hospital Center, 55 Wade Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21228

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this full-time position will be to serve as a Maryland Police Training Commission Certified Police Officer, capable of conducting complex criminal and general investigations in a fair and impartial manner while maintaining strict confidentiality. Responsibilities include crime scene procedures, evidence retention, comprehensive investigative reports, conducting interviews and interrogations, and liaising with the Maryland State Police and MOU regarding criminal investigations at MDH facilities.

The candidate must have knowledge of Maryland criminal laws and MDH policies, enforce laws impartially, possess a valid Maryland driver’s license, and have investigative, writing, and communication skills. The position requires active maintenance of Maryland Police and Corrections Commission, (Police Officer) Certification, and a Special Police Commission.

Additional Notes
  • Reassignment to different shifts, including weekends and holidays, may occur based on operational needs.
  • All officers with ranks of Lieutenant and below will be on a rotating on-call basis.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalency acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education.
  • Experience: Six months as a certified law enforcement officer.
Notes
  • Military service at the rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher can substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications
  • Must possess Police Officer certification as required by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission.
  • Recertification eligibility if previously certified within the last three years.
  • May require a special police commission.
Special Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship, age at least 21, successful background check, valid Maryland driver’s license, and other criteria as listed.
  • Subject to call-in, firearms proficiency, and substance abuse testing.
