The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for Police Officer I on the Dahlonega campus. This is regular or special detail police work in protecting life and property on for the University of North Georgia. Work involves professional response to the need for the prevention and detection of crimes, and for generally maintaining law and order. Work also involves patrolling assigned areas, traffic enforcement, accident reporting, and criminal investigations. Assignments are received from superior officers and are carried out under established policies and procedures. However, employees must exercise quick, independent, and sound judgment and display initiative in applying work methods to emergency situations which arise when superior officers are not immediately available. Work requires dedication to public service, often made difficult by emotional or physical stress of events. Work is reviewed through conferences, written reports, inspections, and observations of results obtained. This position requires the incumbent to swear to and abide by the law enforcement oath of office as well as to adhere to the departmental standard operating procedures.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and holds the responsibility of serving as a mandatory reporter for all Clery Act crimes.

Minimum starting salary: $23.53 per hour. Please Note: This position may be filled at a higher level depending on education and experience.
