The City of Clinton Police Department is hiring Police Officers who will respond to emergencies, patrol communities, and enforce laws to protect lives and property. Certified officers are preferred, but motivated applicants are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or GED recognized by SC Dept. of Education or another state.
• Valid SC driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Physically and psychologically capable of duties.
• Remain calm and use sound judgment in emergencies.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Understand and interpret technical and legal information.
• Capable of occasional strenuous physical activity.

Position Overview

Under limited supervision, the Police Officer responds to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, protecting lives, property, and community safety.

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting routine patrols and responding to calls for service
• Enforcing applicable federal, state, and local laws
• Responding to vehicle collisions and emergency situations
• Preparing accurate reports and maintaining case documentation
• Participating in required training
• Supporting community outreach and public-relations events
• Performing other related law-enforcement duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age
• Possess a high school diploma or GED recognized by the South Carolina Department of Education or another state
• Possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
• Be physically and psychologically capable of performing the essential duties of the position
• Remain calm and exercise sound judgment in stressful or emergency situations
• Possess strong oral and written communication skills
• Be able to understand and interpret technical and legal information
• Be capable of occasional strenuous physical activity
