Job summary

City Of Stoughton is seeking police officers to join a dedicated team serving the community with integrity and professionalism.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent, plus 60 college credits.
• Wisconsin Police Officer certification.
• Experience working with the public.
• Certification/training in handgun, shotgun, CPR, OC spray, and impact weapon.
• A valid Wisconsin motor vehicle license.

Responsibilities

• Protect life and property through enforcement of statutes and ordinances, investigating incidents and complaints, and monitoring traffic for the City of Stoughton.
• Patrol the City for illegal and dangerous activity.
• Monitors traffic and issues traffic code violation citations; directs vehicular traffic and pedestrians.
• Responds to traffic collisions, gathers information from witnesses, and assists emergency personnel.
• Detains and/or arrests suspects and transports to appropriate agency; provides aid to injured persons as appropriate.
• Prepares incident and accident reports; participates in investigations and interviews witnesses.
