Police Officer (Experienced & Academy Graduates)

The City of Costa Mesa is accepting applications for Police Officer positions, offering competitive salaries and signing bonuses for qualified candidates. This includes lateral and non-lateral applicants, with specific incentives and requirements outlined below.

Salary and Bonuses
  • Current salary range: $7,890 - $10,572 monthly
  • $25,000 signing bonus for lateral officers, paid in installments: $7,500 at hire, $7,500 after Field Training, and $10,000 after probation
  • $10,000 signing bonus for non-lateral applicants, paid as: $3,000 at hire, $3,000 after Field Training, and $4,000 after probation
Qualifications
  • For lateral applicants: currently employed with another California law enforcement agency, passed probation, and possess a current POST Basic Certificate
  • For academy graduates: graduated from a California POST Basic Police Academy within the last 18 months
Application Process
  1. Submit online application with required POST certificates
  2. Pass Physical Agility Test (PAT)
  3. Pass oral interview
