Application Process

All entry‑level candidates must complete testing via the National Testing Network (NTN) and submit an application with the Village of Winthrop Harbor by October 14, 2024. Applications can be completed online or submitted in person at the department’s address. Candidates will be tested on Video, Reading, and Writing. An average score will be calculated and the commission has set a cutoff score of 70%. Scores will be available in your NTN account within 2-3 days.

• Physical strength, agility, ability to handle aggressive situations, adverse weather, quick thinking in emergencies, general intelligence, and emotional stability.

Salary & Benefits

• Starting pay: $67,121.
• After 12‑month probation: $72,734.
• Top pay after 3 years: $99,427.
