Requirements
  • Be at least 20.5 years old.
  • U.S. citizenship, legal permanent residency, or DACA recipient status.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Meet all eligibility standards by the exam date.
Qualifications

Minimum Employment Standards:

  • Drug Use: No marijuana use in the past 12 months; no cocaine/crack in 5 years; no club drugs in 3 years; no hallucinogens, PCP, opiates, methamphetamine, inhalants, or Khat in the past 3-5 years; no illegal drug use while employed in law enforcement; no manufacturing or selling illegal drugs.
  • Traffic Record: No DWI, reckless driving, hit & run; no suspension in past 5 years; less than 3 speeding violations; less than 2 at-fault accidents.
  • Criminal History: No adult felony; no misdemeanor or felony while in law enforcement; no domestic violence convictions.
  • Employment & Financial Records: Thorough assessment; disqualifications for certain criminal or financial issues.
  • Professional Appearance: Maintain a professional look; tattoos, branding, disfigurement, or scarification reviewed case-by-case.
  • Valid Washington driver’s license required prior to hire.
  • Typing speed of at least 35 wpm desirable.
  • Residence in Seattle not required.
