The department is a full-service department. Police Officers play a vital role in maintaining public safety and enforcing the law within the community. This position is committed to upholding justice, protecting citizens, and providing assistance during emergencies. Police Officers identify criminal offenders and criminal activity and, where appropriate, apprehend offenders and participate in subsequent court proceedings. Much of the work is performed under emergency conditions and frequently involves considerable personal hazard. Candidates must successfully complete a criminal background investigation, a polygraph examination, a psychological examination, and a physical and drug screening prior to appointment.
