Job summary

The City of Benicia invites applications for Police Officer (Academy Enrolled, Academy Graduate, or Non-Lateral). The department seeks energetic individuals willing to serve the community with integrity and professional policing. You will work across patrol, investigations, and support roles while meeting POST standards.

We offer a competitive pay and benefits package, with shifts of 12 hours over 3 days and 10.5/4 days for special assignments, plus education incentive and uniform allowances.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from high school.
• Enrollment in, or graduated from, a recognized police academy.
• Successful completion of a P.O.S.T. Basic Academy is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintains law and order and responds to emergencies as directed.
• Investigates unusual or suspicious conditions, directs traffic and investigates traffic accidents.
• Administers first aid and gives assistance to the injured.
• Makes arrests, serves subpoenas and warrants and testifies in court.
• Writes reports and maintains records; preserves evidence and property.
• Operates radio and other communications equipment.
