Job Duties
  • Patrol property, respond to emergencies, prevent crimes, enforce laws, and check identities.
  • Monitor traffic, issue tickets, apprehend violators, and serve warrants.
  • Investigate complaints, conduct various investigations, cooperate with other agencies, and perform searches and patrols for patients.
  • Perform administrative duties, keep logs, write reports, answer calls, and assist with safety inspections and background checks.

This is an hourly position covered by the State of Ohio Unit 2 bargaining unit, with a pay range of 10 on the Unit 2 Pay Range Schedule. The location is within our Appalachian Behavioral Healthcare Facility.

New hires typically start at Step 1, with potential pay increases after satisfactory performance and annually thereafter.

Additional Salary / Appointment Information:
  • Starting at $26.25/hr
  • Shift Differential of $1.25/hr for hours between 5:00 pm-6:00 am
  • Must complete a 4-week full-time orientation
  • May work weekends and holidays; exposure to communicable diseases and unpredictable patient behavior
  • Training required to remain in the role

Qualifications

Must possess a certificate from an approved basic peace officer training program or have 20+ years active duty as a peace officer per Ohio law; valid driver's license. Probation period is one year. Must pass Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Program fitness standards.
