Job summary

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is accepting applications for sworn Police Officers who are MPCTC-certified or previously certified in Maryland. Starting salary up to $89,492 with a $10,000 signing bonus, and potential credit for prior service.

Lateral applicants must meet MPCTC requirements and have recent certification within three years. Position involves patrol, traffic, investigations, administration, and support services.

Qualifications

• High school graduation is required.
• Successful completion of MPCTC recruit and/or entry-level training with probation.
• Possession of a valid non-commercial Class C license or equivalent.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Enforcing state and local criminal laws.
• Enforcing traffic laws and issuing citations; investigating traffic accidents.
• Making physical arrests and writing charges; testifying in court.
• Responding to calls for police service and to stressful or hostile situations.
• Investigating crimes and writing arrest warrants as needed.
• Pursuing and subduing prisoners.
