Under moderate supervision, the Campus Police Officer is responsible for providing law enforcement and protection services to the campus community. Provide general police services, emergency response, answer calls for service, and provide other services in keeping with the mission and values of Case Western Reserve University and the Division of Public Safety. Exhibit a proactive, service-oriented approach to community-based policing for faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
Frequent contact with departmental staff, university personnel, students, the public, and external agencies such as police, fire, EMS, and other government entities.
No direct supervision; may guide security officers, student auxiliaries, and EMS personnel.
Experience in customer relations and community engagement preferred; familiarity with campus environment is advantageous. Must have a high school diploma; bachelor’s degree preferred. Must pass OPOTC certification, obtain and maintain OPOTA and LEADS certifications, be at least 21 years old, hold a valid Ohio driver’s license, and pass physical, background, aptitude, drug, and health screenings.
Extended periods of standing, walking, or sitting; exposure to weather; physical confrontations; and working hours based on staffing needs.
