Job summary

White Settlement ISD in White Settlement, Texas seeks a School District Police Officer to provide safety and security services for students, staff and property in line with federal, state, and local laws and district policies. You will be a visible, positive presence to deter crime and promote lawful behavior within the school community.

Reporting to the Chief of Police / Director of Safety and Security and Superintendent, the role is full-time with an immediate starting date.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; college hours or degree may be preferred.
  • TCOLE Peace Officer License is required.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License is required.
  • Meet all TCOLE and district standards.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce laws, ordinances, and district policies on district property.
  • Protect students, staff, visitors and district property.
  • Investigate offenses within the school district's jurisdiction.
  • Work with local law enforcement agencies and emergency responders.
  • Patrol campuses and district facilities to deter crime and ensure safety.
  • Respond promptly to calls for service and security incidents.
  • Provide traffic control as needed near school property.
  • Build positive relationships with students and staff; serve as a role model.
  • Prepare and maintain reports and testify in court when required.

Job Description
School District Police Officer

Reports to: Chief of Police / Director of Safety and Security / Superintendent
Dept./School: Police Department / Safety & Security Department

Primary Purpose:

To provide police services for the safety and security of students, staff, and property in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as district policies and procedures. Serve as a visible and positive presence to deter criminal activity and promote lawful behavior within the school community.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
  • High school diploma or GED (some districts may prefer college hours or degree)
  • TEXAS Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Peace Officer License
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Must meet and maintain all standards required by TCOLE and the district
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and ordinances
  • Knowledge of Texas Education Code and juvenile law
  • Ability to work effectively with youth, parents, staff, and law enforcement agencies
  • Ability to use good judgment in stressful or emergency situations
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Law Enforcement:
  • Enforce all laws, ordinances, and district policies on district property.
  • Protect students, staff, visitors, and district property.
  • Investigate criminal offenses occurring within the jurisdiction of the school district.
  • Work collaboratively with local law enforcement agencies and emergency responders.
Safety & Security:
  • Patrol campuses and district facilities to detect and deter criminal activity, unauthorized persons, and unsafe conditions.
  • Monitor parking lots, entrances, hallways, and other campus areas.
  • Respond to calls for service and security incidents promptly.
  • Provide traffic control as needed on or near school property.
Prevention & Education:
  • Build positive relationships with students and staff; serve as a role model.
  • Participate in crime prevention, drug education, and safety presentations.
  • Counsel students on law-related matters when appropriate.
Reporting & Documentation:
  • Prepare and maintain reports, records, and documentation required by law, TCOLE, and the district.
  • Testify in court proceedings as necessary.
