Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned areas of Ridgeland to deter and detect criminal activity and enforce local, state, and federal laws.
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls, including accidents, disturbances, and reports of crimes in progress.
  • Conduct thorough investigations at crime scenes by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and documenting findings.
  • Make lawful arrests and ensure the safe handling and transport of individuals in custody.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports, arrest reports, and other required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Enforce traffic laws by patrolling roadways, issuing citations, and investigating vehicle collisions.
  • Provide assistance to community members, including information, directions, and referrals to appropriate resources.
  • Work collaboratively with other law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and emergency medical services when needed.
  • Participate in community policing initiatives and public outreach events to build trust and address neighborhood concerns.
  • Testify in court as needed regarding arrests, investigations, and evidence collected.
  • Maintain equipment, including firearms, radios, and patrol vehicles, to ensure operational readiness.
