Job summary

The City of Grants Pass Police Department invites applications for Police Officer. This role offers opportunities across patrol, traffic, detectives, K-9s, and school resource officer assignments. The right candidate will bring strong communication skills, a drive to learn, and a commitment to community safety.

Rotating shifts including days, nights, and weekends are standard. Residency may be required within proximity to the City, with on-the-job training and state DPSST certification

Qualifications

  • Graduation from High School or GED and 1 year of work experience are required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age at time of hire.
  • Meet physical standards as set by the Department of Public Safety on Standards and Training (DPSST).
  • Valid driver's license, with the ability to obtain an Oregon Class C Driver's License within 30 days of employment.
  • DPSST Basic Police Certificate following completion of training, within 12 months of employment.
  • Law Enforcement Data System Certificate within 60 days of assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Protect and serve the community as a City of Grants Pass Police Officer.
  • Rotating shifts including days, nights and weekends with the department.
  • Support patrol, motors (traffic), detectives, K-9s, and school resource officer assignments.

Residency requirement for this position: The residency requirement for the position is forty-five (45) minutes from City limits as it exists within the Urban Growth Boundary (UGB).

Candidates hired for the position of Police Officer must pass the ORPAT (physical ability) and firearms requirements prior to graduation at the Oregon DPSST Police Academy.
