Lateral candidates with prior law enforcement experience are hired within the FULL salary range based on qualifications and experience — not just at entry level. Incentive Pay is offered for college degrees, Intermediate and Advanced Law Enforcement Certifications, and foregin language proficiency.

Example - An officer with 10 years experience,

• High school graduation or the equivalent.
• Minimum qualifications include successful completion of Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) certification and meet all essential job functions as expected by the State of N.C. Criminal Justice Training & Standards Division.
