Job summary

The City of Gresham is seeking a police lieutenant to assist lieutenants in overseeing operations and administering the Gresham Police Department. This full-time role supports leadership across patrol, investigations, and specialized units while ensuring service excellence and community safety.

Candidates will provide supervision, develop staff, coordinate programs, and maintain compliance with laws and professional standards, aligning with the department’s mission and equity goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two (2) or more years of experience as a police sergeant (at time of appointment).
• DPSST supervisory certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months of appointment.
• Ability to obtain DPSST management certification within 36 months of hire.
• No adverse personnel actions within the past three years.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and evaluate the work of a diverse staff.
• Oversee patrol operations, criminal investigations, and/or specialized assignments.
• Develop and update policies, procedures, and business practices.
• Manage division budgets, seek grant funding, and partnerships.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community stakeholders and partner agencies.
