Job summary

City of Gresham seeks a Police Lieutenant to oversee operations, supervise staff, and support department administration within a dynamic municipal police setting. You will coordinate patrol, investigations, strategic initiatives, and compliance with legal and departmental standards.

The role requires supervisory DPSST credentials, prior sergeant experience, and a commitment to equity and community engagement.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
Two (2) or more years of experience as a police sergeant (at time of appointment).
DPSST supervisory certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months of appointment.
Ability to obtain DPSST management certification within 36 months of hire.
No adverse personnel actions within the past three (3) years.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership, supervision, and direction to assigned personnel to ensure effective service delivery and professional development.
Oversee patrol operations, criminal investigations, and/or specialized assignments; respond to major incidents and assume incident command when needed.
Develop, implement, and update policies, procedures, and business practices; ensure compliance with laws and standards.
Manage division budgets, forecast staffing and resource needs, and seek grant funding or partnerships.
Build relationships with community and interagency partners and represent the City before officials and the public.
