The City of Reno is seeking a qualified Police Lieutenant for an internal promotional opportunity to serve as Police Captain, providing leadership and oversight of a division, coordinating with other units and external agencies.

Candidates must meet education and POST requirements, have four years of sworn law enforcement experience as a Lieutenant, and be actively employed through appointment. Salary and benefits are subject to change.

Formación

• Four years of continuous full-time sworn law enforcement experience as a Police Lieutenant.
• Bachelor’s degree or 120 semester credits with 30 in criminal justice or related field.
• Possession of Nevada POST Supervisor or Management Certificate satisfies education requirement.

Responsabilidades

• Provides leadership and direction for a major Police Department division, including strategic planning, program management, and operational oversight.
• Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, and evaluates the work of Lieutenants, Sergeants, and other personnel to ensure service delivery.
• Develops division goals, policies, and procedures; monitors compliance and improvement.
• Manages divisional budget, resource allocation, and staffing to meet objectives.
• Serves as liaison with other city departments, law enforcement agencies, and the public; represents the department in professional settings.
• Oversees major incidents, events, and emergency response operations.
• Directs internal investigations, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions as required.
• Prepares reports and presentations for executive leadership or boards.
