Job description

DESCRIPTION

The City of Corona Police Department is seeking a reliable, motivated, and community-oriented individual to join our team as a General Assistant (part-time). This is a unique opportunity to support local law enforcement efforts behind the scenes and contribute to the safety and efficiency of our daily operations. The Corona Police Department is made up of over 250 employees including officers and professional staff. The department has three divisions: Field Services, Investigative Services, and Support Services. Our mission is to ensure community safety and security while maintaining trust through transparency.

The Police Department General Assistant works in various law enforcement assignments both at the station and in the field. Assignments include (but are not limited to) Animal Control, Records, Forensics, Detective Bureau, Personnel and Training, and Patrol.

This position requires working a maximum of 19 hours per week. Appointees may need to work various hours, shifts, holidays, and weekends. The successful candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school graduation or equivalent GED, or be within one semester of completing high school with full accreditation.
Skills & Abilities
  • Perform clerical and routine office duties, including conducting surveys and writing reports.
  • Handle public inquiries and assist sworn officers by performing non-sworn duties.
  • Operate public safety communication equipment.
  • Perform janitorial duties, which may include kennel maintenance depending on assignment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Experience
  • Experience or classes in police work or similar settings are desirable.
  • Must be at least 18 years old at the time of appointment.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and eligible for overtime pay.
