Job summary

City of Carlsbad is seeking a Communications Operator II to receive and evaluate emergency and non-emergency calls in support of the Carlsbad Police and Fire Departments. You will work under general supervision on complex clerical and dispatching tasks essential to public safety operations.

Applicants should understand 911 system basics and be able to elicit information from callers while delivering excellent customer service. This role is based with the City of Carlsbad Police Department.

Job description

Under general direction, this position will receive, evaluate and act upon emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio communications which range from routine to the complex in the support of municipal law enforcement and fire departments; perform other related work as assigned. A Communications Operator II works under general supervision and performs a wide variety of complex clerical and emergency tasks in support of the police and fire department operations.
