Job summary

The Village of Arlington Heights seeks a renowned law enforcement leader to become Chief of Police, directing the department’s strategy, operations, and budget. This role emphasizes community engagement and high standards of service in a nationally accredited police agency.

The successful candidate will bring deep police administration experience, strong strategic planning, and a track record of building relationships with residents, businesses, and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or related field.
• At least ten years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience.
• Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board certification or ability to obtain.
• A master’s degree is preferred.
• Graduation from FBI National Academy, Northwestern University School of Police Staff & Command, or comparable executive leadership program is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct departmental strategy and operations.
• Oversee the budget and allocation of resources.
• Guide emergency preparedness and incident response.
• Maintain accountability across the Department.
